Don’t Become a Prisoner of Your Own Life

My life has gone through many unplanned changes over the past while.

I thought I had my life planned out. I thought I knew where I was going and what the future would look like. Then I lost my beautiful wife and best friend, Lidia.

Losing Lidia has been the most painful experience of my life. It changed everything.

It has also made me look at life very differently. I’ve realized that perhaps I don’t need more rather I need less. Less of the things that consume my time, energy and attention, so I can do more with the limited time I have here on earth.

I believe there is a reason for everything, even when we cannot understand it. My faith has helped me accept what I cannot change and find the strength to keep moving forward through this incredibly painful chapter.

I can only pray that I have more ahead of me than behind me when it comes to my life purpose to positively impact the lives of others during my own lifetime.

My spirit is rebuilding. It is getting stronger, even though my heart continues to hurt.

Over the past while, I’ve been putting some of my deepest thoughts into words and using AI to help turn those thoughts into something visual. The result is the poster I’m sharing here.

It is a reminder to myself not to become a prisoner of my own life.

A prisoner of expectations.
A prisoner of fear.
A prisoner of convenience.
A prisoner of debt, possessions, routines or the systems we sometimes accept without questioning.
A prisoner of giving away the one thing we can never get back, our time.

Rules and systems have an important place in society. But somewhere along the way, many of us can become so comfortable inside the structures around us that we forget to ask whether they are actually helping us live the life we were meant to live.

So I created this poster as much for myself as for anyone else who sees it.

What kind of prisoner are you?

What are you giving your time to?

Where have you traded freedom for convenience, approval or security?

And perhaps most importantly…

What can you change this week that gives you back a little more ownership of your time, your choices and your life?

I’m trying to answer those questions for myself.

I’m rebuilding. I’m learning. I’m hurting. I’m growing.

And I’m determined to make whatever time I have ahead of me count, not just for myself, but for the people I can hopefully positively impact along the way.

I hope this poster makes you stop for a moment and ask yourself the same questions.

Maybe breaking free doesn’t mean changing everything.

Maybe it starts with one small decision to take back a little more of your life.

What kind of prisoner are you right now and what are you going to do this week to become a little more free?

All my love & best wishes Tim ❤️
